Bulbophyllum macranthum Lindl.

Description:   Epiphyte orchid with a stout hairy rhizome with well spaced ovate-elliptic unifoliate psuedobulbs and a single oblong fleshy petiolate leaf. It growing on trees in semi-deciduous and deciduous forest, broadleaf and coniferous, lowland to montane forests   at elevations of 700 up to 1500 meters. With fly-pollinated flowers. The amazing blooms of this species are beautiful and quite unique. The erect inflorescence borne along the rhizome during the warmer months, bears a single, large flower which produce a rather exotic and interesting, sweet perfume. The blooms are highly colourful and are some what variable in their colour regime.
