In Brief
Orchid Cambodia is a website devoted to Cambodian wild orchids. It is an initiative made to support orchid research and conservation, in collaboration with the Royal University of Phnom Penh's Herbarium, Experts from the National Museum of Natural History in Paris (Dr. Hul Sovanmoly and Pr. Marpha Telepova-Texier. We also receive the expert support from Dr. Schuiteman of Kew Botanical Gardens and other world famous experts and photographers.
This initiative resulted in 2011 in the development of a first checklist of the wild Cambodian species with over 120 declared species. Current research indicates higher numbers closer to 500 and more. We only present a fraction of the documented species. We post only those that we have been able to document AND photograph.

The Website
The website is a project of Cedric Jancloes, Expert in Media for Development and a lead member of the NGO Action IEC . A few years ago, while salvaging orchids from felled trees in Preah Vihear province before the seasonal fires, the author of this site came upon some most baffling orchid species. Some of these had never been recorded in Cambodia (Pelatantheria Ctenoglossum)
Any information on Cambodian orchids was almost impossible to obtain in the recent past. So the author of this site embarked on a long journey of discovery of the orchid world by getting in touch with the few existing botanic experts in this field. Rapidly, more efforts were deployed to further research and document the orchids of Cambodia.
Now there is a dynamic and hopeful environment for further efforts to better know and protect orchids in Cambodia.
This work ranges over years of explorations and research by a large number of people. This work culminated in 2010 in a presentation of new orchidacea species for Cambodia.
Based on this non-official checklist this website can help other orchid lovers to better know about this amazing species and to values.
